    Removing silence between certain tracks

    Hello all

    Here's a tricky one !

I have a concert spread over two CDs (Mahler's 9th symphony),
with movements I and II on CD1 and movements III and IV on CD2.
Each movement is split into 6 or 7 tracks.
This is no problem playing the CDs
because there are no audible breaks between tracks,
just the normal few seconds silence between movements.

However, the ripped version (APE) on the computer
has tiny breaks, just a fraction of a second, between tracks.

Now if I select rip-as-one, presumably I'll get rid of these breaks
but movements I and II and movements III and IV will be merged.

    My question is :
Is there a way to merge just specified tracks
    - rather than the whole CD ?

Best regards and thanks from Ray

Yes. The rip as one option will allow you to rip each movement separately (as long as all the "tracks" are on one disk). Using Rip as One you set the starting and stopping point for the material (in this case each movement) that you wish to rip. This requires 4 rips for your example (one for each of the four movements).

    Best wishes,
    Bill

The reason for the pause is probably due to the computer uncompressing and reading the .ape file. I have heard similar things regarding both WMA lossless and FLAC.

        Hello again

        Thanks for the tips.
        The rip-as-one worked well.
It was a bit tricky finding the correct place to break between movements
but once that was done it was all plain sailing.

        Thanks again from Ray
