    Re: Plz i've a problem

Is this an mp3 file you are trying to convert to some other format or are you trying to convert a file in some other format to mp3 or are you trying to convert an mp3 to mp3 (to apply a DSP effect or to change bitrate, frequency or other settings)?

I will assume that you are trying to convert an mp3 file.
Try opening this file in dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC). In the window where you specify your output format (such as mp3, wave or ogg vorbis) select "Test Conversion (No Write)". This will not create an output file but it will tell you very quickly if dMC can read the file or not.

If the test conversion fails this suggests a problem with the file. Perhaps it is copy-protected. Perhaps it is corrupted in some way. Perhaps it has tag data (such as album art) that is not currently supported.

If the test conversion works, try converting the mp3 file to wave and then to your desired format.

Or, you can try looking at the tag information for your mp3 file to deermine frequency, bitrate, and channels. If your mp3 file is other than the normal 44.1 kHz frequency, you will want to make sure that Professional Frequency Conversion is enabled (this is set in dMC Configuration, Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration>dBpowerAMP Music Converter Configuration). You may need to do an intermediate conversion (usually to wave with the frequency and channels set "As Source" and then to your desired format and frequency).

If you run into further trouble, please tell us more about your mp3 file and the tag information for frequency, bitrate and channels. Also please tell us about the settings (format, frequency, bitrate, channels, bit setting) you are trying to use for your converted files? Also, can you tell us whether this is a problem with one file only, with many mp3 files or with all of your mp3 files. Finally, can you tell us about your operating system (which Windows version are you using), which version of dMC you are using and whether you have an active version of Power Pack installed (you can also confirm this through dMC Configuration).

    Hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

        Re: Plz i've a problem

        Was the test conversion successful?

If it was, please tell us about your mp3 files (frequency, bitrate, channels), about the settings you are trying to use for your converted output files (any DSP effects, output format, frequancy, bitrate, channels). Also tell us about what Windows version you are using (Windows 98, Windows XP, etc).

Also trying converting some of these files to standard wave PCM format (44.1 kHz, 2 channels, 16 bits). Tell us whether those conversions work ok or not. If they do not work, try converting to wave but turn off the option to copy the ID Tag information (this will help rule out whether faulty or non-standard tag information is hurting your conversions).

If the trial conversion was not successful, try again but turn off the option to preserve ID Tag information. If this does not work, please tell us about the bitrate, frequency and channel settings of your mp3 files and tell us about what Windows version you are using.

In posting your reply, please be sure to mention whether the trial conversion worked or not.

        Best wishes,
        Bill

Where did your mp3s come from? What Operating System are you using? What format are you trying to convert to?
