First off, if you do decide to get a new mobo, you won't be able to use your current case. Dell makes the mobos "special" to fit in their cases.
Second, your brothers computer only accepts SATA HDDs? What kind of freaky mobo does he HAVE? I've never heard of this before, EVER. EVERY mobo made SHOULD accept PATA for at least the next couple of years. Optical drives are pretty much all still PATA.

Yeah, I forgot that CD/DVD drives use IDE cables....I'll try my HD in his computer soon.
