    Re: Browser Poll

Christina's got a point about finding the cache blah blah. IE actually beats us there.

Still, who doesn't like tabbed browsing?

      Re: Browser Poll

So in a little while (read: perhaps, maybe, sorta not in the really distant future), IE7 will be out of it's Beta 1 and Beta 2 testing... It does have tabbed browsing, and it's not a horrible interface overall, but it could have been better. It still has a few of those MS "features." Then again, it is a B1 product, so there's no need to bash it yet. The only thing I want to complain about is that the tabs are ABOVE the menu bar (File, Edit, View, etc...). I've just gotten so used to FF and really do think it's doing a good job, that I'm doubtful that I would switch back to IE.

If anyone else would like to see it, I can either throw up a link on here, or you can PM me (or if there is a mod reading this wanting to strangle me, then I can take this entire paragraph down). I'm pretty sure there isn't any crazy MS licensing scheme here where I cannot share this Beta, but then again I could be wrong.

Nah, I won't strangle you - just don't force me to use tabbed browsing LOL! It should be optional, not imposed. :D

Number 46? I thought it was 47....you know, from Hitman Contracts.....the video game...

Any way, I'm never gonna switch back to IE.......ever. After discovering Firefox and Opera, IE will always feel inferior to me...

And tabs above the toolbar? o_O

              Re: Browser Poll

Internet Explorer is the windows shell. It is just a horrible idea to surf the net with your OS directly. (if you dont believe me, open my computer, type an internet address in the address bar)

firefox, extremely secure, and even more secure with a few extentions .. if it doesnt work in firefox, the webpage is made wrong

Actually, IE is NOT the windows shell. The windows shell can browse the internet, yes, but it uses the IE shell to do so. See Konqueror in Linux for an example Web Browser and file manager program.

nup, i am am still back on IE6. i have been around the merry go round with heaps of different browsers but always come back to IE in the end.

although since Opera is now free they are making leaps forward.

yeah i just hate the pop up blocking and ad filtering in firefox:p

seriously tho, i use firefox as my primary browser, but as a webpage devoloper myself it doesn't *always* get it right (but IE gets it right less:D)

IE is good because it's less hassle to do stuff.
for example i can't view java applets in FF 'cuse i cbf installing <bloated java rant here> java, but it all works in IE without me having to do anything.
                          same with flash.

and screw waiting for IE7 if u want tabbed IE just use avant. i like the mouse gestures thingy too (without having to install extra plugins)

been a while since someone posted here, but im not crazy about tabbed browsing, i find it annoying. i like it when it puts the new windows in the taskbar because then you can close it without having to open it. plus, i dont like how firefox puts the accessibility rectangles around stuff. im very picky when it comes to what stuff looks like, so that bugs me. :vmad: plus, i dont like how slow firefox can be to open. now with windows xp sp2 and the popup blocker, its a lot better now. so i have no real use for firefox. its alright... but i like IE better. its part of windows, so i just like it a lot nicer.

I use firefox because it renders the pages most correctly, and is much faster than IE. Also IE has no support for CSS2; try viewing my MySpace page in IE: http://myspace.com/Link500X
every other (non-IE based) browser displays the page correctly. If you use Linux or MacOSX, then there are browsers that support even more features (CSS3).
