i've been trying to figure out what has caused the quality of playback to deteriorate. it's still not clear. removing the matrix mixer appears to have improved some of the playback.
can anyone tell me how to add filters to the wma graph, or even - if possible before all directsound device output? i know about graphedit to view graphs and experiment with different set-ups, but not how to implement those changes (systemwide)
on a side note - does anyone know if ac97 drivers are generic? and if so, any pointers where to find the best ones around? in the end the manufacturers driver may be involved with all the hubbub, eventhough it's the most recent version to be had.
