Normally Ogg is regarded as being better that mp3, but its all up to personal taste, really. Also, downloading ALL the codecs is probably a little much.

I hope you didn't download ALL the codecs! Especialy since you only need mp3 and ogg!

There are those who swear by ogg and those who swear by mp3. mp3 is more universal if it matters, as it requires no special other player or codec on various computers.

And then there is myself who cares more for wma if the device permits it :D

I ripped a cd, with deferent codec’s (mp3 and ogg). The .ogg file became the biggest file..

        .mp3 | 192 kbps | 8 290 kb | blade
        .mp3 | 192 kbps | 8 291 kb | lame (not lame.exe)
        .ogg | 192 kbps | 8 349

Rip ogg to 160kbps and it should sound the same as mp3 and be about the same size. WMA and Ogg can use lower bitrates to sound the same as mp3 and be the same size.

                Re: Witch codec and format?

Tcip, MP3 has one of the worst compression routines. WMA , OGG, MP4, and others.....They're all better than mp3. I prefer Ogg Vorbis at 160 kbps VBR if I'm listening to rock music, 300 kbps if I'm listening to classical music.

For WMA, I stick to 192 kbps. For MP3, I stick to 320. Why 320? Cuz MP3 sounds so bad under 320.

Got all the codecs I want for now.

D/L'd Monkey Audio last night. I now have to buy a new HD so I can re-rip my collection
