    shorten the song

    can you use this program to cut the length of a song into a smaller length.

    example: song is originally 4 min. long can i make it 30 sec. long by cutting off the last 3.5 min. of audio.

    i dont know much about this program, i just got it.

    if this program cant do it plz direct me to another program that can cut them.
    (one that works with windows xp plz)

    Yes, you can as long as you have Powerpack in addition to dMC and the requisite codecs.

    When you select the options of the conversion, you click on DSP Effects and select the effect DSP Maximum Length. This will allow you to keep just a certain length of time starting from the beginning of the audio file.

    Another DSP effect you may find useful is Sound Grabber, which allows you to select a specific duration to keep starting at a specific time location in the file.

      and if you want to play around with songs in an editor (which also easily includes shorting) then audicity is one of the best solutions, being totaly free and very powerfull...
