    new version

Some time ago I wrote to this section re a problem with auxiliary input not installing with the dwnld. Spoon said it was only available with version 11? beta which I duly installed and all is O.K. Now I want to send the link to a friend but can`t find it. Or am I going mad?

    Re: new version

The link to the download site is here:
dBpowerAMP Music Converter Release 11: Now released: www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

The links for downloading Beta versions of these programs will always be through the beta test forum not through the Beta link at the top of the page.

    Best wishes,

O.K. I`ve downloaded Version r11 +beta but does the "bad news" mentioned mean that I won`t be able to convert my audiotapes after the trial period? Mick

        Re: new version

You will be able to convert audiotapes using dMC as auxilary input is now integrated directly into dMC (which is remains free without the Power Pack). What will be a problem is being able to convert to mp3 after the Power Pack's trial period is over unless you register (meaning pay) for the revised Power Pack (which now will contain your mp3-related codecs). Spoon had previously mentionned looking into the possibility of re-evaluating the pricing for the revised Power Pack. I don't know if he has resolved this yet. I also don't know if currently registered Power Pack owners will get the revised Power Pack free or or for a reduced fee (or if it will be the same fee for everybody). In case you were not aware, these issues arose when the patent-holder for mp3 technology demanded royalties for this program's use of mp3 technology (which apply even though the codecs in use are open-source).

But even if you cannot or do not want to register the updated Power Pack, you will still be able to record your audiotapes to other formats.

        Best wishes,
