    LeechGet 2001

I just found a really kick ass download manager a few days ago...

LeechGet 2001 sports absolutely no form of adware or spyware as well as it being totally free. It has a great interface that is fully themed under XP and is layed very similarly to Outlook Express's interface. (the panes and such)

It sports FTP browsing/downloading & uploading and fully intergrates with Internet Explorer, with a separate plugin also available for Mozilla/Netscape & Opera, unlike Star Downloader's Moz/Net/Opera plugin, LeechGets's plugin can be customised to catch other file extensions in addition to the default ones.

Also, unlike Star Downloader and many other managers which don't give a user agent string and are blocked by some sites who don't like download managers, LeechGet 2001 can have it's user agent string customised so none of those sites will ever block you, if they did, they would also be blocking IE 5.5 which is what I've got LeechGet identifying itself as at the moment :supersmil

LeechGet 2001 (though it sounds old) is also under active development with the the latest official release being on the 29th June 2002. LeechGet by far has the best interface for a download manager I have ever seen. /rant

I've been using this version for a while and it's been nothing but buggy, laggy, constant crashes, not closing properly when Windows shuts down etc.

First version I've had so many problems with :(

well i don't have much experience with it yet.

I tested the built in FTP and i also did one download test.
        all worked ok.

I must say i am impressed with the info it gives out on the file you want to download. very impressed so far.
