Just got myself a new (second hand) portable, a Panasonic T1 - perfect for my needs, very light (1Kg) and powerfull enough that I can keep busy out and about. Anyhow I came to setup the portable (it had a virgin copy of Windows XP installed) and connected to the internet to install Zone Alarm, in that 40 seconds whilst it was downloading the computer contracted a virus :(
Anyhow, after the virus was removed I tried to install XP SP1, it complained there was something wrong with the XP Serial number. Now every Panasonic toughbook comes with Windows XP, and I tried to sort out the dodgy serial number by using the serial number from the sticker suck underneath, but Microsoft was not having it - I phoned the activation line and they would not activate my XP, so I told the Microsoft chappie, if the official number would not work then I would use a warez serial number, so thats what I had to do to install XP SP1 - a case of software protection stopping valid users and not pirates...
