This is a post out of pure frustration. Things are getting worse year-on-year with what record labels are doing. Fewer artists are releasing CLEAN/RADIO EDIT versions of their music, and I hate that they don't. Record labels really should be forcing artists to release them. Maybe this will be a niche and controversial opinion, so please bear with me.
Call it personal preferance, first world problem, OCD or whatever. I can't stand it when I pay for a song, but it's different to what I heard on the radio. (Yes, people still listen to the radio, believe it or not...) Almost feels like it was mis-sold/falsely advertised. This includes lyrical censorship, re-recorded lyrics, completely different mix etc. for the radio version.
Normally I'd buy songs from Qobuz, but there's been times when I've paid for song that was not marked as explicit, and it actually was. So then I have to spend many hours manually editing it in Audition or Audacity, just to make it equivalent to the radio version. Even then, that's only possible if I can get the instrumental track, or chop up the release track and copy/splice instrumental sections that can fit seamlessly where required. I hate having to do this, it's extremely laborious.
I did look at subscribing downloadable DJ "music pool", but not only is that very expensive, I think it requires proof of regular DJ work. My DJ days are long gone, cause I wasn't very good. I still have my DJ equipment, so sometimes I do the odd birthday party, if that counts...
It's criminal that it's so difficult to buy CLEAN/RADIO EDIT versions of songs.
Please suggest anywhere that sells them in any kind of lossless format.
Don't post any legally questionable sources, thanks.
