I also use Opera- it is simply great - specialy that mouse gesture thing you mentioned
I use IE only if some site refuses to open as it should in Opera (which, of course is not opera's fault)
i used to swtich a lot between IEx and opera and mozilla. but finally settled on firebird because i only use the browser as a browser. i don't use browsers for email or bookmarking or anything else. so firebird suited me in the end.

Firebird does also support the gestures mentioned from Opera -- there are all sorts of plugins available (even one to switch user agents so you can use sites that are hardcoded to accept netscape or IE to avoid support calls). Will
I haven't used IE as my main web browser since the release of Mozilla 0.9.8 way back on February 4, 2002. Mozilla Firebird 0.7 and Mozilla Thunderbird 0.3 are my main internet apps atm. Just in case you weren't aware, there are optimised Firebird builds in circulation which have been specially compiled to be optimised for certain CPUs and features/instructions (SSE & SSE2)
