What's the best format to backup a new cd

I am new to the world of ripping cd’s etc. I am wondering what is the best format is to rip a new cd in for storage and future conversion into another format when I choose a player. I want to maintain the quality of the original in storage. Can I rip it as is, I think its CDA format?? I don’t see that option.

Go to the Codec Central, and check out the lossless section. They will save space and you won't lose any audio quality. Just think of it as Winzip for audio files.

Monkey's Audio & FLAC are the two most popular lossless audio codecs.

You poll is at zero and I think that is funny. Hell would freeze over before I'd use .wma and .wav files are simply too large.

I am using .flac if I want to retain the original quality. If it's just for a Jukebox availability and quality doesn't have to be 100% true, I use .ogg
