Edit ID Tags Error with Qobuz FLACs

When I edit the ID tags on Qobuz FLACs, I get an error popup "provides audio information for dbpoweramp has stopped working", and when I hit the "close the program" button, another popup says "unable to write ID tags for [filename]". Despite the two popups, the ID tags are in fact updated. This only happens on Qobuz FLACs; FLACs from other sources (e.g., CDRipper, HDtracks, Prestoclassical) edit just fine. I'm using Windows 7 and dBpoweramp 15.1.

I saw another thread on this same subject but the thread owner did not follow it up. To address some of the suggestions I saw, the Qobuz FLAC files are not read-only, and are not in use by another program. All non-Qobuz FLACs edit without issue. I can't realistically expect Qobuz to research this, as this is not their product.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks for the file, the crash seems to be deep within FLACs libraries, there will be a flac 1.3.1, if this does not fix, I will look into it.

Can we get this on a bug list, so the developer(s) can certainly fix it at some point?

It might have already been fixed, there were changes to this area of the code in the lib.

When is that going to be released? Btw, could any new release improve sound, enough to warrant re-ripping CDs?

FLAC is lossless, it has always decoded 100% correctly, there is no improved sound to get.

It would be a number of months when r15.2 enters testing.

Then I would politely make my request once more, to put this on a fix list, instead of assuming it will be fixed inadvertently in a subsequent release. Thanks again for the prompt responses.

It is the same, when we are in this area next we will apply all updates, if it does not fix it, we will fix FLAC and submit the changes.

Thanks for the kind responses. I'm a developer as well, in another industry, and I know users can be a pain

In the interim I've asked Qobuz to recommend a metadata tool, since most of my music is from them now.

Apart from this small issue, I think you have a marvelous product. I'll make a note to watch for 15.2 and let you know.

have you tried mp3tag. It's a very powerful and flexible tag editor. (yes, it does FLAC files as well). Available here:
