Adding a second optical drive

I have added a second optical drive to my media center computer ( external icybox caddy + plextor dvd drive ) so that I can rip CDs that my optiarc cannot do. My question is what is the procedure for setting up my new drive ?. I eagerly await an answer, cheers everyone.
