    Batch converter silently terminates early

I am processing 3,900+ WAV files into MP3 & WAV. After 900 or so the converter progress exits and I am back to the batch selection screen. There is nothing to indicate a problem occurred, no warnings or notifications. A count of the files converted shows the problem of course.

I have done batch conversions of this size in the past (different files). Every time dbpoweramp was kind enough to show me a very detailed list of issues.

Drive space on target is fine, drive tests fine. Another program appeared to do fine in the conversion (slower to use) writing to the same area.

Any ideas where I can look for details on what went wrong?

    Thanks

Do a conversion to 'Test Conversion' and watch it, to see if it terminates early.

Sorry for the delay, it takes some time to process 3,936 files.

The test_transcoder FAILED, but much later (600+ conversion) than the real test. This failure was a CRASH (Notify MS, blah, blah), which is a different failure than I saw when converting to WAV/MP3 (that failure was silent).

I re-ran the test on the file name that failed, it worked perfectly.

I am re-running the test conversion, only this time without multi-core selected. My computer had been upgraded to a 6/12 core system (from 4/8) since the last run. Just in case more cores is causing a problem (wild guess).

It made it farther than ever, 2200+ before crashing with a visible "Microsoft searching for solution" box.

So, preliminary results of all tests:

        WAV + MP3 : Silent crash after 900 or so files (multi-core)
test : Visible crash after 1500 files (multi-core)
test with muti-core OFF : Visible crash after 2200 or so files

I hope that helps. Let me know if there is any additional information I can provide to help resolve this issue.

Try running stress tests of your computer with a program called prime95

Running for over 24 hours now. No issues seen.

I do not know what to suggest, in that if it was a bug (most likely one of our decoders does not like one of your files) then it would crash on the same file each time.

If you monitor memory usage on the system, is it getting near to the max?

Not even close. 12 GB available and things seldom show more than 5 total GB in use (including caches and such).

Anything else I can try to help locate this?

Do you have another computer you can test that same conversion on?
