I've searched the forums for a solution but didn't spot anything so apologies if I've missed it. I have many AAC/MP4 ( .m4a ) files ripped using iTunes as until recently my main use of digital audio files was with iPods. I recently purchased dbpoweramp to re-rip as FLAC and improve the meta-data and have been very happy with its performance. I also use WMP12 which happily indexed all the AAC/MP4 files created with iTunes in its library; that is until I installed dbpoweramp R14. With dbpoweramp installed if I click on Music->Manage Music Library in WMP12, remove all folders and then as a test let WMP12 reindex just a small folder of .m4a files it leaves an empty library. If I remove dbpoweramp and perform the same experiment it correctly indexes the files. Curiously if I rename the files with a .mp4 extension WMP12 will index them all even with dbpoweramp installed. I'm guessing there is an oddity in the HKCR or HKLM\Software\Windows\Multimedia areas for .m4a which is causing this but after a quick look I thought it might be quicker to ask if anyone has a solution?
In case it is relevant this is on Windows 7 Professional ( x86 )
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
