    Sound Cards

    Hey there,

Its TaxTime and i am wanting to upgrade my sound ( AC97 integrated).

Any Suggestions on a good quality sound Card?

I run my sound out to a stereo and that is good for volume but
would like the best Audio quality.
I also do a lot of ripping of,cd,tape, phono ,to my hard drive.

I dont mind payin the price but i dont want to pay for what i dont
    need,or for junk.

    Thanks,Bob.

    Santa Cruz

    Bbooska,
    I am running Win XP, 1GHz Athlon Thunderbird, 1536MB PC133, 80GB 7200rpm WD HDD, GForce4 4x/8x AGP MX440 64DDR.
I use Turtle Beach's (http://www.turtlebeach.com) Santa Cruz sound card.
It's WinXP compatible, costs about $70.
    Tons of features.
    Check it out.
    I like it.
Their Montego II sound card is good, but NOT WinXP compatible.

MadDog Multimedia (http://www.maddogmultimedia.com) has a kick-ass sound card, the Predator.
    It's a 5.1, 6.1 card.
It's WinXP compatible, costs about $60.
    It smokes.

I also have used CompUSA's (http://www.compusa.com) version of the MadDog card, made by MadDog Multimedia.
    It's a 5.1, 6.1 card.
It's WinXP compatible, costs about $40.
    It's good.

Just make sure the card you buy is WinXP compatible.
    Good luck.

        Hi,

I have a SoundBlaster and I can verify the amount of problems:( On the other hand after having it finally working OK it is really good. I'm not trying to push for it but it has a digital output and my speakers also have digital input and here I want to make a "sales pitch"(?), it is a BIG difference in clarity of sound... If you have the opportunity check it out (whatever brand).
