audio book

I'm trying to figure out . How to split the file of a complete audio book I downloaded and converted to wave.When I sent it to my Adaptec easy cd creator. I was told the file was too large for the cd and I should remove some.How do I do this this?It's one track.
If you can help I would appreciate it.
