    i love dbpoweramp

    Hi all,
How are things going? Hope all is well.
I need much help today. My situation is as follows.
I'm recording live streaming audio of lectures from universities that have
    websites on the internet.
They don't offer these lectures in MP3 format that i could download.
So, i use TotalRecorder,a software program that captures the audio from WinAmp as i'm listening to the live streaming of these archived lectures.
The TotalRecorder allows me to install a variety of MP3 Lame encoders such as:
Lame: 3.96.1, Lame: 3.98A.6, Lame:4.0a14, etc. I've been experimenting with
these different versions to improve the quality of the recording.
Now, after i have the lecture recorded i want to write it to an CD-R as an
MP3 Audio CD. I,ll listen to the lectures then on a Sony Atrac3 plus Mp3 Walkman Player.
I only have dial up internet connection about 42Kps.-44Kps.It wouldn't improve audio quality any by setting the Bit rate Encoding at above 48Kps.and the Frequency above 44100Hz. would it?
What is the best codec to use when capturing and recording live streaming
audio lectures? Maybe, making it a Wave file first would be better, and then convert that wave file to a Mp3 file and then write it onto a CD-R
Please one other question. I made my first MP3 audio CD with dbpowerAMP Writer, but the tracks copied or burned to the CD were not in the same order that was made in the track list,IE.instead of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, they were burned as Tuesday, Monday,Thursday, Wednesday Friday.
Then i tried making another MP3 CD by using the temporary files that were created from the first MP3 CD but this time just writing the Monday lecture and not closing the CD. Then deleted the Monday lecture from the track list and added the Tuesday lecture. Consequently, the track was written (i could
see by looking on the CD-R that more was burned to the CD-R) but when i opened the CD drive on my computer only the Monday track was visible and the Tuesday track wasn't recognized.
Getting these issues worked out would really help me to get a good education because these lectures are a valuable tool for my studies.
I don't know why they don't put everything in MP3 format in the first place, those RA, RAM, real media files are a pain.
Thank you very much, kind thoughts to you
    Rich

If your recording the stream, it would be a better idea to encode to WAV and then later encode to mp3, yes.

Keep the frequency at 44100Hz, as this is the standard and changing it might make the song sounds too fast/slow.

As for the bitrate, 48Kbps would be fine, though you can experiment with higher bitrates, up to about 64Kbps and see if these sound any better to you.

      Hi LtData,
Hope all is well with you.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. It helped me alot.
I think that i,m going about recording these lectures in the most sensible way.
Don't know yet if Winamp can record the streaming audio while playing the
Ra,Ram, file from the internet website. If it can then i won't need to use Totalrecorder to record.

Just beginning to understand all the variables that dbpowerAmp has to offer.
It's taking a little time to figure out how to set up evrything correctly to make
a good MP3 audio CD from these lectures that i'm listening to.

If you have any suggestions please tell me about your thoughts on going about it.

Do you have time to help me on setting up the,dMC Ripping Configuration?
What is this for? Do i have to be concerned about this when making an MP3 audio CD from the lectures i'm recording? In the Command Set what do i choose:MMC, Read Standard (SI). Sony Read 10,there's eleven different
      options to choose from.

Well take care of yourself. Kind thoughts to you.

        Re: i love dbpoweramp

Leave it at MMC, that should be your best bet.

First, I recommend looking over the included dMC help files for assistance on the more basic features. If you still have questions, we will be more than happy to assist you.

Also, I know Winamp can output the inputted sound as a file, but I'm not sure if it works on streaming media.

          Hi LtData,

Thank you so very much,i really appreciate all the help you gave me.

I'll be sure to go through those help files.

I haven't tried to make another MP3-audio CD yet but my mistake was

not closeing the disc because i wanted to add more tracks to it.That's probably

why the CD-RW drive didn't read the other tracks that were written on it.

          Kind thoughts to you.
