Question on the "Smart" button -

    Using CD-Writer 2, registered.

    Trying to create a cd containing all mp3's @192kb and 44100. I'm using a
standard Audio CD of 80 minutes.

The smart button is greyed-out for both standard type cds and active for both
MP3 Audio cds. Is this correct procedure? Is there a way to enable the button
for the standard type of audio cds?

Aside from length of time (80 vs 74 or 650 vs 700 meg), whats the difference?

    thanks,

Re: Question on the "Smart" button -

Audio CDs automatically convert all files to normal Audio CDs, regardless of the original format. When burning a data CD, you specify what files you want left alone and what ones you want converted. An Audio CD HAS to convert all files when it burns an Audio CD, so that's probably why its greyed out.

Some CD blanks are only 650MB/74minutes, some are 700MB/80minute. The difference is, some older CD players cannot read the higher-density 700MB/80min CD blanks, but most do. That is about the only difference.

      LtData,

      Quick reply!!! Thanks.

I wanted to tell "Smart" to leave the mp3 files alone but since it isnt active
with a Sony CD-R Music cd (a data cd actually), thats a non-started.

Would there be a copy of cdwriter version 1 hanging around for download
somewhere? I cant find it in my zips (nothing new about me not being able to
      find something :smile2: ).

Would like to revert back to version 1 since it didnt have the smart button (or
      the dupe problem).

Re: Question on the "Smart" button -

Your trying to convert your files to a data CD or to an Audio CD? If you pick Audio CD, you have no choice about formats, it is just an audio CD. If your trying to make a data CD or "mp3 CD", the smart button should be available. Double-check what type of CD you selected.

          Ltdata,

I've selected the "Standard Audio Cd 80 minutes" (just because the Sony CD-R
Music package says its an 80 minute recording time......).

Dont know what will happen if i select the MP3 Audio CD 700 meg and put in a
          80 minute cd??????

          thanks for the help,

Do note that CDs can be either data or music, they don't care. "Music" CD-Rs just give a fee to the RIAA to cover money lost from copying or something, but even Music CDs can have data burned to them.

The 700MB cd is the same as an 80min audio cd. What it means is that a 700MB cd can hold 80 minutes of audio cd tracks :smile2:
