I have an older cd writer (5/6 years) and it is working under
dBp/win7 with no changes to system or compatibility modes.

The cd drive is a TDK CDRW4800B S7S8 model.
It is connected as a USB device.

Not sure this helps finding a solution but dBp does "see" it
and is able to write/read it in win7. Whereas my newer
(included with system) built-in cd/dvd read/writer is not
found by dBp regardless of compatibility mode used.
