Burning directly from internet?

Someone said that you could burn a CD from music you are hearing "real-time" on the internet?
You are not saving the music to your hard drive first, then burning it to a CD later.
You are burning it to a CD as you hear it while you are on-line.
How is this possible?
Can anyone explain this to me?
