CD Writer not working - InstantBurn UDF problem?

I recently bought a new laptop running Vista, reregistered and reinstalled dBPoweramp software. When I installed, I got an error message about the "Instantburn UDF" not installing properly. Everything worked fine -- converter, ripper, players -- until I tried the CD Writer. It does not recognize my CD drive. CD Ripper recognizes the drive with no problem. My versiuon of CD Writer is 3.1, which I believe is the latest available. How do I fix?
