Error message when trying to burn CD

When I try to burn a CD-R standard disc using R13.1 CD Writer 3 on a computer with Vista OS, I get the following error message:

Device Error: Could not write to Disc (LBA: 230755 Length:0)
Invalid field in CDB - 0x052400
[Tip: Cancel burn and select slower write speed]
Insert new blank CD and retry burn?

The slowest speed in the drop-down box under write speed is 16x, which is what I had it set on. I went to the retrieve reg. page and re-downloaded CD writer 3 with the same results. The media I've tried are Verbatim and TDK, both of which I've used for years w/o any problems on other programs.

Another question I have if this problem gets corrected is: when using the Gapless CD option, will you be able to skip forward or back to the next song when playing, or is it like Rip-As-One and the entire CD is recorded as 1 track?

Is this the first disc you are trying to write?

Gapless CDs still have seperate tracks.

Yes. I actually forgot that R13 came with the writer, so I thought I'd give it a try. Everything goes fine until about half way through, then it stops and I get the error message above.

Does this happen when trying to burn different files, or are you just trying the same set over?

It did turn out to be a problem with a particular file (the last song on the burn list). After the burn failed twice on Writer 3, I tried it on WMP 11 with the same results, but it told me which track had the error. I then looked at the file info and that file was ripped with dBpoweramp R13 [Accurate (32) Secure], so I'm not sure why it had an error. The whole reason I purchased this product in lieu of continuing to use free products was to avoid these errors. But anyway, I've burned a couple of discs (w/o that corrupted file) just to make sure, and it has worked fine.

Re: Error message when trying to burn CD

I am getting the same error during my first burn since a reinstallation of all software.

I just installed the CD writer on a new installation of Win XP SP2.

I got the error when I attempted to convert some .flac files to CDA. I was also writing to CD-R at 16x with media that I have had no problems with in the past.

I had previously gotten this error on my prior installation of Win XP SP3.

Fortunately I don't really need the writer too much.

Addendum: I just successfully converted some .mp3 files to CDA, just as a test. I used the highest speed available at 48x. I then tried converting some .flac files again, this time at 48x, the write seems to be fine.

I then tried 16x again and was successful.

Conclusion: My first burn didn't work, but subsequent ones were successful.
