    song titles in order

I am trying to create a MP3 CD from MP3 files. I am using CDwriter3.1, Converter 13.1. I add the songs in the order I wish them to be in, but when the CD burns they end up in Alpha order. I have gone back and numbered them in the file name, i.e 1_title 2_title etc. and also in the ID tag i.e track1, track2 track3 etc. But they still end up in Alpha order on the CD.
    What am I missing here?
    Thanx for any assistance

    Re: song titles in order

CDWriter (irrespective of version) treats mp3 disks as data discs and (just as windows does) will arrange files in alphabetic order in its default setting.
However, CDWriter allows you to set the file structure for your mp3 CD and it is by adjusting this that you can (better) control the order of tracks on your mp3 disc.
You must set this structure BEFORE you add any tracks. Open CDWriter and before adding tracks, click the Create New button. This will take you to a window that will show your defined CD/data disk templated. Click on the button that in the lower left corner that reads Create New CD. Select Dat Audio CD. Set Mp3 as your data format and any other criteria (Smart Conversion settings, Mp3 settings for the files on the disk).

Now for the important part: Click on the Set button on the line that says File Arangement. From there you will see a list of potential elements that can be used to control your file hierarchy. Using a setting of: [album]\[track]-[title] should result in a disk with separate folders for each album with the tracks arranged by track number and displaying the track title after the track number. Then click on OK and make sure that your file structure is displayed correctly on the File Arrangement line. (A secondary important tip is to make note of the file location for your temporary CD files. This is displayed immediately below the File Arrangement line-this is also adjustable.)

Now, from the Create New Audio CD window, click on OK, making sure you have your new template selected, click on OK again and now you can add your files.

Once you have added your files, I strongly advise that you check your temporary CD file folder. As far as I know, this is the only way you can see what the exact file structure of your mp3 CD will be prior to burning. If your file structure should be awry, this will most likely be due to missing or incorrect tag data (in this case you can probably remove the file(s) in question from the CD - from CD Writer, fix the tags, and add the tracks back to the CD from CD Writer) or the problem will be that there is something wrong with your file structure setting (in which case you will need to re-set the file structure). Now this tip (checking to confirm the folder structure) used to work very well for CD Writer r1 and r2, I am not entirely sure how well it works for CD Writer r3, my one saved mp3 CD template does not appear to show folder structure, so I am not sure whether this disk was first created under CD Writer r2 and the template is not recognized by r3, it may be a by-product of having both r2 and r3 installed at the same time, or it may repressent a difference in CD Writer r3). So if no folder structure is displayed, you can try ignoring the tip and burning your disc.

    Hope this helps.
Let us know how it goes.

    Best wishes,
    Bill
