    New Ripping Project

Hi all, I've decide to take on the project of ripping my 1000 + CD collection to FLAC, with the intent on putting it all on a 2-bay RAID for playback via DLNA to multiple WiiM Ultras hooked to 4 audio systems i have through to house.

I've been putting this off for years for fear of the time it will take, but I've been spending a fortune re-buying stuff on vinyl that i already own on CD, an that seems dumb. I want to access a collection I spent years building.

    1. is this an ok plan? what am i not thinking of?

    2. Should a buy a loader system to make the task easier? Which one should i get with the intent that i will sell it as soon as I am done with it.

    3. Is there any options to rent or buy these things used?

Many commercial ripping sites use manual load with multiple drives. 1000 CDs is not a huge number, an auto loader (nimbie example) would allow it to run without interaction mainly.

I ripped a 1000 CDs in about 3 weeks, just while I was doing other things. Bring a few dozen CDs to my desk, while doing other work, just load and unload. I could get 50 a day sometime.

other advise. The WIIM ultras are nice. DLNA is not optimum (depending on the implementation). Consider something like Lyrion Music Server (LMS). See link. Many forum members have started using Wiim players, because Wiim has the option to emulate a squeezelite player. Many of us use an rPi to run LMS. turn key install with piCorePlayer. But LMS can run on a PC, a MAC, windows, linux, etc. You can test it on whatever you already have.
