Batch Ripper + Nimbie fails to unload/load any new disks after Ripping Error

My setup works great and I've ripped 100s of CDs except for this issue. Here's what happens:

• Any time any disc is marked as "Ripping Error" (usually a damaged disc), it fails to load any more discs
• The Nimbie does not open the tray nor unload the damaged disc
• Batch Ripper then shows "Post-Load Waiting For CD" for a minute or so, then "No CD After Load". During this time, the drive doesn't open or close, nor does the Nimbie load or unload anything
• It repeats this until I manually end the batch or it hits the limit of number of failed loads
• AFTER the batch ends this way, Batch Ripper shows an error "Drive Different to Configured Drive" and I need to close and open Batch Ripper and then it will work normally again
• When it starts up, it unloads the damaged disc into the reject pile, then continues ripping normally

I'm on a new Windows 11 PC, followed these steps exactly, and also this guide. Haven't changed any settings except for setting "reject on metadata fail" to false (but the erroring discs in question do have metadata). Ripping mode is Burst (I tried Secure but it just hanged for 30 minutes on a damaged disk without anything happening).

Unconfigure the drive then reconfigure it, as you should not have that message about the driving being different.

Thanks - it doesn't show that message normally, but only shows that message after a disk that's rejected with a ripping error (the Nimbie does reject various other disks, about 10%, before dBpoweramp even tries to rip, but it does continue normally after that).

I tried unconfiguring and reconfiguring the drive and it didn't affect the issue, still happens exactly as above. I've tried using a USB 2.0 cable and turning off Windows Defender and running Batch Ripper as an administrator (none of these are necessary for normal operation and they didn't help with this issue).

Basically, after a ripping error, it keeps trying to run Load.exe and Reject.exe and nothing happens (drive doesn't open, Nimbie doesn't load/unload/reject, nothing). I've let it do this 10 times and nothing happens. When the batch ends it shows the drive configuration error.

If I end the batch and re-open Batch Ripper and start a new batch, it starts by running Pre-Batch.exe and then Load.exe and then Reject.exe, and this *does* successfully reject the ripping error disc, and then it's able to continue. I'm also able to run those exe's manually to reject the disk.

Again this has happened with every disk that shows a "Ripping Error", about 5% of the couple hundred we've ripped so far.

New information: I've just attached a total of 4 Nimbies to on PC and Batch Ripper generally works great with all 4 (had to do all of them on USB 2.0). Firstly, when ripping with a single different Nimbie, the same error above happens, so it's not specific to the device.

However, the same discs that cause the Ripping Errors that halted operation before have a different behavior now with multiple drives. Unlike the single-Nimbie error above (where it keeps running Load and Reject, and shows "No CD After Load" for each in the Rejects pane), when it hits one of these disks on a multi-drive setup, it just shows "Unloading CD" for each other drive (after each disc finishes) and then doesn't load any more. No Nimbie commands are shown in the logs with debug on. It just stops. Screenshot of what it looks like after waiting 20 minutes:

Batch Ripper hangs, I can't do End Batch, have to open up Task Manager and end the Batch Ripper process. When I open up Batch Ripper again it just freezes, - in order to fix this I also have to end some frozen "Batch Loader/Unloader" processes too.

When the error happens, if I manually run `UnLoad.exe --drive="D"` (the drive with the Ripping Error) nothing happens, the program hangs, and never returns anything. Same with Reject.exe and Pre-Batch.exe - they don't output anything and just hang. I have to end the hanged UnLoad.exe processes in order to continue.

This is happening every ~25 discs or so, so it's a real bummer. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help debug, thank you.

Have a look what is happening to the actual drives in Windows explorer, are they disappearing?

No, the drive that hits the issue continues to show up in Explorer - with 4 drives they all show as still connected.

And you can right click on the drive >> Eject?

Aha, I can't! Right clicked on the drive in Explorer and hit Eject, and I get "An error ocurred while ejecting 'BD-RE Drive (D)'."

When I end the Batch Ripper process (it won't end batch or quit regularly) I am again able to eject it from Explorer.
