A suggestion for a future version:
We, a small public radio station, are converting our older CDs into Digital format to save space.
I've run about 2000 CD's through a Primera Composer and Batch Rip 1.4. In all of this I have been finding bad, damaged, poorly manufactured CDs, and they eat up a lot of time in batch rip. (I load the machine with 50 CD's and leave it to run). Some CD's have run for 4 to 10 hours due to re-rips of bad frames. Some of the CD's were damaged beyond recovery (scratches through the silk screen and the reflective layer).
It would be nice to have a way to limit this problem. After a lot of thinking I came up with a thought. If we could set a Maximum limit on the number of re-rip frames this would solve most of the problem (time is still an issue on any re-rip). The idea being that if the track exceeds the Maximum Re-rip limit then the track would be flagged as ERROR and skipped. Here is the logic, if a track is so badly damaged that it need more than say 200 frames of re-rip then maybe the track isn't worth it. At least this is a metric that can be applied before the re-ripping starts.
