Batch rip from shared CD drives over LAN to NAS

Okay, it seems that the old NEC multispin 2X cannot work with the ripper, I was wondering whether I could share CD drives over the LAN and have the batch ripper rip from those to a NAS? Has anyone done this?

If will not work as direct SCSI access is required to the drive, not a file share.
