Music Converter Malfunction

After registering dbPowerAmp and executing the new registered copy, the program malfunctions. When attempting to do a file conversion (to mp3 or wma), the conversion starts, runs about a minute, and then just disappears. I have de-installed all files, downloaded fresh copies, and reinstalled. The result is the same. Looking at the output directory, a "stub" of a converted file has been created before the program stops its execution. When starting a file conversion, dbPowerAmp appears as an application in Windows Task Manager, then disappears within the first 2 minutes. Help!

What is the format of the file you are trying to convert? What compression settings are you using for the target format (bit rate, frequency etc.) Have you tried performing a test conversion or even converting to wav?

Had you previously used dMC in the trial version without problem?
Did you install while logged in with administrative privilidges?
Did you install to the default location or to a custom location?
What Windows version are you using? (Older Windows versions-95 and 98- require some supplemental system files).
Are you trying to rip (convert from a cd) or convert (form files from on hard drive)?
Does this problem occur with both processes (ripping and regular conversion) or just 1?
Do you have this problem with all files (and/or CDs) or just some?
Are you using any DSP effects (if so, which) or other special power pack settings?
Are you getting any kind of error message?

What happens if you try to do a test conversion of some of these files (just is set up the same way that you would do a regular conversion except that where you would select your conversion format-mp3 or wma-you select "Test Conversion (No Write)")?
(This will not create an output file but will either indicate a successful conversion or display an error message. Test converting is an indication of whether dBpowerAMP Music Converter can read a file).

What are the properties of the files (format, bits, bitrate, channels, frequency) you are trying to convert?
What are the settings (format, channels, bits, bitrates/quality setting/preset, frequency) you are using for the files you are trying to create?

This sounds like the normal behavior of Music Converter in that it normally disappears after it has done its assigned task.

Yes, this sometimes happens when things go wrong. The program creates a kind of shell for the output file first.

Anyway, these questions/issues might get you started. Please keep us posted on how you make out. If you need further assistance (which seems likely), please try to answer as many of the above questions as possible.
