Re: record streaming media in PowerAmp?
The following link to the FAQ on metafiles contains some helpful information on trying to save streaming audio files to your hard drive:
dMC Auxiliary Input is used to record audio to your hard drive from what is being played through your soundcard. Applications include transferring cassettes or vinyl to your pc for further processing and perhaps for burning to audio cd, capturing streaming audio which cannot be downloaded and converting the audio from
This is often more workable than trying to convert while streaming the file through the internet, especially if you do not have a broadband connection.
Not all streaming files can be saved to your hard drive (this FAQ tells you how to identify these). If you cannot download the file to your hard drive then you are stuck trying to record it over your internet connection. If the track will play for you without interruption then you do stand a good chance of trying to record it using Auxilary Input. If you can only play the track on the internet and it will not play without interruption, you are out of luck.
The following is the FAQ on using Auxilary Input to record:
I see the questions involving converting files with extensions such as .ram, .smil, .asx, .wax, .wvx, .m3u, etc keep coming back in various forms. Here is where I would like to contribute what little I know of such files and how to handle them. Mine is more of a layman's explanation of these concepts rather than a rigorously
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,

Re: record streaming media in PowerAmp?
If the actual media file is from a multi-media streaming server, i.e. the protocol used is mms:// rather than http:// , then you can use the program SDP from http://sdp.ppona.com/ to capture the actual streaming file to your hard drive. After that you may be able to convert it using dMC .
Even if the protocol is http:// but the underlying media file is in turn another meta file, that too is an indication of streaming, so you might be able to use SDP to capture it.
If the protocol is rtsp:// (indicating a Real Media streaming server) then you cannot handle it by SDP, and only dMC Auxiliary Input can be used to record while it streams and plays through your soundcard. Not sure if an application like Nettransport can handle it.Comment
