    Re: New Skin! Magnum

Very nice! Seems to have the features of the larger studio and studio pro skins in a more compact package.
The digital VU meter is quite interesting and I may have some more questions about this a little later on.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

      Re: New Skin! Magnum

[size=2]Thanks Xoas. I'm still aiming for realism.

The new meters were motivated by the recent Forum discussion about recording and volume levels with dMC and dAP and the resulting VU levels as displayed on my StudioPro skin.

      Very informative reading,...http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=8461

What comes out of this discussion for me is that dAP is really a digital player. Not analog.
The peak level for digital recordings is 0dB.

What this means for the user is that dMC and dAP, both being digital, cannot create or produce clipping. It's a different animal than analog. As such, I redesigned the meters to fit,...and thus, Magnum.

Spoon suggested the scale range being used in Magnum. And I'm open for suggestions if something still needs to be fine tuned. (I'm not sure if the 'hats' need to be in the level movements).

Lastly, I would agree with Spoon that I personally have never seen a file that was created with dMC to show any clipping when viewed from an Audio Editor. And as loud as some files are when played, I've never heard any audible distortion.

      Hope this is helpful.

        Re: New Skin! Magnum

        Hello there.
I just purchased DB Power amp and got to use DAP, but there seems to be some problems with downloading the skins.
I just can`t seem to be able to download anything from any of the links posted in this site.
Where can I go to download a skin?
Thanks for any help any one might give :smile2:

I think the skin downloads can be accessed at http://www.aussiecommunity.com.au/fo...splay.php?f=43 - but you may have to register in that forum as well before downloading.

it is a nice skin, very basic, but the work is good. and it's the first skin for a long time now...

I like how it looks and is easily usable. I miss the "show amp" button on the mini player though...

              Thanks Donny.
I just updated the skin and added your button (AMP in Mini).
Also added Power switch to TRAY.

              Thanks and Best Wishes,

Magnum has been upgraded to be more Equalizer-ically Correct.
Two dummy sliders have been removed.
