I've been using the dbpwerAMP player, Converter, PowerPack, File Selecter, and Aux Input since May of 2001 with virtually no problems. My computer - OS Win98SE - Processor PIII 800mhz - 640 MB RAM.
I wanted to update the player from v1 to v2.1 and the converter from 10 to 11, keeping registered PowerPack 3, File Selecter, and Aux Input so that I could then download/install Sveta Portable Audio.
I uninstalled all dbpowerAMP apps, defragged, downloaded v2.1 player and v11 converter, but idid not install because I saw the 50ComIUpd and DCOM98 links and thought I needed both of them. I tried installing 50ComUpd but got a popup box from Windows saying it was already updated. Then I installed DCOM98. Then v2.1 player, v11 Converter and all the rest mentioned above. I rebooted, then tried to play a .mp3 file. I get an 'illegal operation' every time I try, but if I don't close the warning box, I can hear the music play through with no problem in audio quality. I never see the player. This current install of Win98SE has been running (as hard as it is to believe) for almost 3 years and I can't even remember the last time I saw 'illegal operation', much less the 'blue screen of death'. Below is what the illegal op says.

The Converter 11 works fine. I need to get this resolved so that I can install Sveta Portable Audio. dbpowerAMP has always worked extremely well for me, untill now.
I know very little about software but can/will follow instructions or suggestions.
Please help.
