every time i try to convert a .wma file in mp3, i get an error saying the wma-codec required to decode the file is not installed, but i downloaded the wma codec and installed it ?!

 What OS and which wma codec? If you got WMA9, you need to make sure you either have WMP9 installed, or the WMP9 system codecs installed. See here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm .  Can you decode other wma files?
 
 Is the file protected? Was it purchased from an online music store?
