Is there a way I can have filename be the first search criteria? I have a few CDs with artists whose CDs I also have, so the track from the mixed CD and their CD get jumbled together. I want it by filename because my music library is arraged /artist/album/#track - artist - song

OK, I see. Your hierarchy is sort of upside down. Can you collapse it and recreate it by other criteria that don't use Artist?Comment

This keeps the compilation CDs together and the artists albums together.Comment

Originally posted by LtDataYour misunderstanding what I'm asking for. Right now, MMC is sorting by artist, whether that track is on a studio album or a compilation CD. My heirarchy keeps them by artist and THEN CD. Compilation CDs are in their own folder, like such: /This is Solid State Volume 3/track # - artist - song
This keeps the compilation CDs together and the artists albums together.
As you don't seem to want them by Artist, then your hierarchy is not right for that .... to my linear way of thinking :pComment

Re: Sorting in MMC
Here's some examples that should help. I have have the Album "Summer of Darkness" by Demon Hunter. It is in /Demon Hunter/Summer of Darkness/. I have a CD that has a demon hunter track on it. That is under /This is Solid State/02 - Demon Hunter - Through the Black. MMC groups the latter track with the album by Demon Hunter. I wish to have the latter track grouped with the CD.
Does this help clear it up?Comment

Re: Sorting in MMC
hmm, it would need to rememeber the way the collection was sorted on mmc exit and it would be OK right? I mean once you sort it as you wish to keep it that way?
I think it is doable, but not until a next beta or something...Comment
