Entries dimmed in MMC?

Suddenly. Some entries are dimmed with a red dash icon, usually an entire album but partial albums, too. Dimmed songs play upon double-clicking but I haven't seen them selected in 'random' mode. I cleared all tracks and set up anew, but they remain. I can't see any difference in tag or pop-up information from usual entries. New tracks added directly from CD are entered as expected, but tracks converted from my hard drive are dimmed. Somewhere along the line I saw a reference to 'inactive' entries, but didn't find any instruction. Can someone tell me what it means?

is "selective" option active? it should "dimm" some artists (genres, ratings...) so that they are not played in the random mode...
the new tracks (ripped from CDs as you said) will be included in the playing, 'cause dAP is not instructed to skip them...

Yes, that was it. Took me forever to find the icon. Strange, the tracks it selected...go figure.
