    Unable to read .cda file

In attempting to convert .cad file to .wma I receive the following message:
The CODEC required to decompress 'D:Track01.cda' could not be opened.
Unable to access CD Drive 'D:Track01.cda'

I thought this was one of the built in codecs in dBpowerAMP v1.1

    What am I doing incorrectly?

When Run As.. Administrator, I get the same error message. Converts MP3's to WMA OK.

Re: Unable to read .cda file

If you are trying to rip from cd, are you using Audio CD Input?
If D is not a cd or dvd drive but refers to a hard drive, a .cda file has no purpose being there and would probably not be playable or convertible. You would need to re-rip the file to wav format.
But I am assuming that D is a cd or dvd drive. If the drive is not recognized, try opening Audio CD Input, clicking the Options button and seeing that you have the correct drive selected. Change this if you need to. If the drive(s) are not listed, please follow the instructions for your version of Windows from the Support Section of this site (link in the black bar at the top of this page) here:

        Good luck and best wishes,

I am trying to use dMC Audio CD Input. It does list the tracks from D:\ which is the CD/DVD drive. I am trying to convert to .wma and to place it on the Desktop. The message I get is:The CODEC required to Compress 'C:\Documents and Settings\Arthur\Desktop\N. Nuenco - Track_01.wma' could not be opened. Seems as though it is looking for the input file on the Desktop. Options lists CD Drive as D:\

For some reason it seems to function if I use dbAmp Power Converter or if I right click on the file and Convert To.

Actually the error mesage tells it cannot compress the file in order to create the specified wma file.

Is Arthur a user with administrator priviledges on this computer? That is required I believe for this program to work.

Windows 2000/XP: Can I rip without Administration privileges?
              -----------------------------------------------------------
Yes, if you select Audio CD Input >> Options >> Advanced set Communication to 'NT/2000 Builtin (Limited)' then you won't need admin rights.

I set Communication to 'NT/2000 Builtin (Limited)' in order to read the CD. It works if I rip to .mp3 but if I rip to .wma I get this message.

                Art-
Try opening up Audio CD Input, click on the options button, what does it say on the top line ("Rip to Folder")? If it is not set to Desktop can you reset it to where you need it to go?

Well then, have you installed the proper wma codecs and Windows Media Player like indicated at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-wma.htm ?

And what exact settings are you using for your wma output?

AND: is there already a wma file by that same name sitting on the desktop? Did you just play it a player like WMP? Delete it ir rename it and try to rip the cd track again.

Yes, I have done that but I continue to get the same error message.

Christina, I repeated this with no change in the result. Remember that it works when I use "dBpowerAMP" just not "dMC Audio CD Input". Settings are:

Set ripping speed to 4, check Slow rippping. This might work.

Rips to MP3, rips to wav but not to wma. Is it WMP v 10.00.00.3646 compatible?

Well, there is a new wma 9.1 codec for WMP 10 and XP. Look in the beta section. I don't know if this would help you. http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=6128

OK, I repeated installation of :
First install the WMA 9.1 system codecs:

                              then the new dBpowerAMP Codec:

                              but the result is unchanged.

Perhaps I need to uninstall dMC Audio CD Input and abandon it. In "Add or Remove programs and updates", I now have :

                              dBpower AMP Arrange Music
                              dBpower AMP CD Writer
                              dBpower AMP mp3PRO Input Codec
                              dBpower AMP Music Converter
                              dBpower AMP Rename Extension
                              dBpower AMP Tag From Filename
                              dBpower AMP WMA V9 Codec
                              dBpower AMP WMA V9.1 Codec
                              dMC File Selector
                              dMC mp3PRO (CLI)Encoder
                              dMC Power Pack

but no dMC CD Audio Input. I do have a dMC Uninstall file in the dBpowerAmp Folder, I guess that is what I should use??
