    dualpro, black beauty skins?

First - the sum total of my knowledge about skins is, what i can see on screen.
I can push buttons, twist knobs, throw switches and even can manage a slider
    most of the time.
I saw something about an "After Dark" background but i dont see it or how to
activate it. Can this be added as a switch or something?

      Hi savagcl,

The best rule of thumb for using any skin is to hover your mouse over anything that may even look like a button. :D In most cases this will give you some kind of User Hint. That is, unless the button controls an extra underlying skin that the skinner added as some sort of a new feature, or if the button is actually a skin tab.

A skin tab shows just enough of an underlying skin that when clicked on brings that skin to the top where it is displayed as the desired option. I used this concept on DualPro to minimize the use of a lot of extra buttons to do the same thing which may become even more confusing. (If that makes sense).

Here's a more detailed picture of what all those little colored dashes on DualPro do when you click on them. Keep in mind that DualPro is actually a Gold looking poweramp until you activate the "dAP After Dark" option as depicted in the attachment.

Hope this is helpful to all.

Here's a better idea of what a skin tab might look like as used on DualPro.
The tab in affect becomes a button. And it will have no User Hint.

The alternative is to use some sort of drop down panel that would use individual buttons (switches) to do the same thing. And that is to turn On and to turn OFF desired options. An extra panel makes a skin quite a bit harder to use and does not allow the user to freely go from one option to another with only one click. While the user could turn ON all of the options at once, there comes a point where they will get stuck and have to go back and turn all other options OFF before they can proceed to the desired selection.

        Hope this is helpful.
