Strange effect on Volume controls

Whenever I'm playing an mp3 with dbpowerAMP, I find I have to click on the Volume Control slide control for Wave, or I have no sound. It's as if there's a setting to mute before a song plays, which has to be changed. The song is playing, but no sound. Similarly, when I'm enqueuing it does the same thing, in essence muting the system (NOTE: it's not REALLY muted, but the effect is the same), which I have to UNmute by clicking on the Wave slide bar before I get sound.

Not sure when this began, but it's been awhile. And today when I upgraded I saw the same problem in r2. None of the other MP3 players I have (Winamp, MusicMatch, Windows MediaPlayer, etc...) have this problem. I really love dbpowerAMP, and us it all the time for music as well as for streaming (using RealProducer), but this is a serious annoyance.

Any clues?

Is there No Master Volume slide bar? Right-click on Volume > Open Volume Controls >Options and select Playback. from the list of diffrent source, make sure all items are checked and then click OK.

You can keep all the items at maximum volume (but mute Microphone) and only play with the Master Volume slider. I don't know if this would solve your problem at all, though. I can't imagine what goes around changing that, except the volume control in various media players.

When you talk about this happening while playing WAV files, are you playing CD's or listening to tracks saved on your hard drive in WAV format?
When this happens with en-queueing, does it happen while you right-click files in Windows Explorer to en-queue, while you add items to the queue through My Music Collection, or both? Is the en-queueing problem only occur with wav (and/or cd, as they case amy be) tracks or does it occur with any tracks?

In any case, I would recommend trying to run Spoon's reset routine to reset your version of Audio Player to "factory" specs. You can find this routine in the FAQ section for dB Audio Player here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=403

You may also want to check your output settings on your sound card as Christina has suggested.

I've seen this happen many times. Adjust the volume control on dAP instead of the Wave Volume slide on your Master Volume control panel. I believe that they are somehow tied together. (or at least that's what's been happening on my system since a reformat a year ago - Win 98SE). dAP's volume setting overrides the Wave slide settings with each new song. If its set at or near zero, then it would probably be creating this situation. Adjusting dAP's volume control should fix your problem.
