    Dissapeared

I installed the audio player 2 days ago. Yesterday, it was fine, until it dissapeared. I tried opening it, and right clicking it in the bar and saying "move", and my mouse jumps over to the upper lefthand corner of my screen...where nothing is.

Furthermore, (if I ever get it up and running again normal), I would like to disable the thing where the information for an mp3 file pops up when your cursor goes over it. I can't find a way to, and I find it very, very annoying.

    Re: Dissapeared

With respect to the first problem:
Was this with the default skin or did you download some other skins as well. If you have some other skins. If you have other skins installed, you might try to switch to a different skin (click on the dAP-for dBppowerAMP Audio Player-tray control on the right side of the bottom taskbar to call up the tray control skin for dAP, right click on an inactive part of the skin to call up the Options Menu, select "skins").

If you downloaded the skin designer, you will have downloaded some skin files which are only helpful for learning to use skin designer, which will be picked and selected by dAP as active skins unless you de-select them, but which are unsuitable for normal playing. De-select these from the Skins menu list (by removing the checkmarks) for the following skins: Blank, Complex Skin, simple skin, slider example, and sliding skin. If any of these is selected as the active skin, select a different skin at this time and you should be back in business.

If you did not download skin designer, but you downloaded other skins, the problem may rest with a specific skin. Select a different skin and see if you have the same problem with that.

If this is a problem with the default skin, or with multiple skins, try first uninstalling the skin(s) in question and reinstalling them. If this does not cure the problem, uninstall dAP, uninstall your skin(s) (any that have this problem). You do this from the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Then go Start>Run and type in regedit. This calls up the Registry Editor. Browse the file tree on the left to H_KEY_CURRENT_USER, Program Files, Illustrate, dBpowerAMP, Skin. Click On Skin to get a list of skins. Find the entries for any questionable skins. Delete these from the registry and exit registry editor. Restart your computer and reinstall dAP and your skins (any that you uninstalled and deleted from the registry).
Or you may want to try to run this routine to reset dAP to original configuration (from the dAP FAQ forum: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dAPResetAll.exe
I am not totally sure that this will work in all cases. But if you only have the default skin and the problem is with the default skin, then definitely try this first (beofre the uninstall/delete the registry/reinstall procedure).

Please let us know how you make out with this. If these steps don't work, or if the problem re-occurs, please tell us what Windows version you are using, what version of dAP you are using, and whether this is a problem with only certain skins or with other skins.

With respect to the second issue, you can turn off this feature at the dMC Configuration window (Start>All Programs>dBpowerAMP Music Converter>Configuration>dMC Configuration). Uncheck the box that says "Popup Info Tips in Explorer."

    Good luck and best wishes,
    Bill Mikkelsen

You'll probably find your dAP in Start>Programs>dBpowerAMP Player and you can right click and copy a shortcut to the desktop and/or the quick launch bar.

The pop-ups you want disable are exactly those everybody want enabled :D
In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options uncheck the very last item: Show pop-up description.... and then click on the button Like Current Folder and OK.

big appology for not ever responding...I could have sworn I did. I just decided to go back to Windows Media Player.

about my 2nd problem, I noticed that the thing is in the new version of the CD Ripper (dmc music converter cd....something...but you know...) and by the way, besides that 1 thing (which I've looked back here to learn how to disable) the new version is a BIG improvement. Nice job. :D
