    dAP vs MusicMagic Mixer

Having wasted money on Moodlogic (which seems to be a dead product) I came across MusicMagic Mixer (MMM) which seems to do exactly what it says on the tin. Unfortunately I can't persuade it to work with dAP.

When M3Us are associated with Winamp everything works as it should. When they are associated with dAP nothing happens when I hit Play within MMM.

Any idea why that might be?

    Thanks.

I think dAP handles m3u playslists differently - I hope to update that whole section one day with generic playlist / cue sheet handling.

OIC, one for the wish list then

FWIW I think MMM is an excellent product. Just pick a piece of music you fancy listening to then tell it to create a mix (a playlist) and it'll pick tracks that should satisfy your mood.

The playlist I'm currently playing was created by initially selecting Oxygene by Jean-Michel Jarre and contains Genesis, classical pieces, U2, Tangerine Dream, Porcupine Tree and Mike Oldfield among others. There is a quite a mix of genres but they are all satisfying my mood (I need quiet background music while I write up a project). I can't think of any other way I could have created the mix (apart from manually of course).

        Re: dAP vs MusicMagic Mixer

I asked a similar thing on the MusicMagic Mixer forum and received the reply -

"dBpowerAMP is doing the registry a bit different than other apps - it sets up a "Play" command instead of an "open" one. This is the cause of the problem. I've added special handling to detect this case and work around it - if dBpowerAMP adds open in the future, and removes Play, though, it'll break again.

Anyways, look for this to work in Beta 5. "

They've just uploaded Beta 5 and it works a treat :D

Hmmm, almost. It looks like dAP uses the playlist file as a live feed rather than caching the content. If the content of the MMM playlist window changes while dAP is playing the old content it immediately switches to the new (IYSWIM!).
WinAmp doesn't exhibit that behaviour so I assume it caches the playlist.

Please ignore previous post as I must have double-clicked something which triggered MMM to send it to dAP. It works perfectly except when the end-user is an idiot!
