Will dAP Stream?

Please bear in mind that I have no idea what I'm talking about so this question may be complete nonesense!

As a result of an impending house move I've just bought a Squeezebox but I can't, AFAICS, link that to dAP. The Squeezebox will support the following MP3 streaming protocols - HTTP, Icecast/Shoutcast, Live365. I don't think dAP does any of that but I've been surprised when asking about its capabilities before...

no, dap doesn't currently support live streaming. however if you are able to open the file across the network then dap will play it. as i use dap on my laptop to open and play music files across from my second PC on the wi-fi, but thats not the same as streaming with http protocols.

i put 2 polls up to query people interest but there is very little interest in it from what i can see. but Spoon has it on his to do list.

Edit: Although having now read the thread I see it's for receiving. I want it to broadcast...

yes, looks like i need to put up a seperate poll for broadcasting. i was just hoping to see live streaming first :D . but i don't know whats involved so maybe braodcasting ability involves similar coding too.

I don't suppose there's any sign of shoutcast broadcasting any time soon is there? (asks someone who now has a couple of Squeezeboxes and really would like to listen to dAP round the house)
