    mp3 input decoder

Hello. Please tell me about the mp3 input decoder used in the player. It says that it's copyright 2003 by Illustrate, but I presume it's based on one of the well-known decoders, such as Fraunhofer, for example. Many thanks.

    Re: mp3 input decoder

The decoder is actually a MAD (short for something like Mpeg Audio Decoder) decoder. It is an open source decoder that promises suprior performance for decoding non-standard mpeg 1 and backwards compatable mpeg 2 files (standard mp3 is mpeg 1, layer 3).
    Best wishes,

Many thanks. That's very good news - I like MAD. But not such good news that I can't take advantage of it by playing mp3 streams! I don't have any mp3s on my hard drive, only ogg files. Ah well!
