    New skin incoming!

OK, I am making a new skin.
I promise the mistakes from Quake 3, such as the scattered buttons and rough tracing, wont exist in this skin.
I'we made some realy interesting VU vis-s and menu enchantments never to be seen before(thanx to my brother), somthing realy uniqe. Once the skin is out it shall all be explaned.
Some parts are not done yet because of a lack of ideas but I will get it soon.
If anyone wants a 1280 or a 1600 fullscreen then I'll make them just for fun:smile2: (I work in 1152)
And I have found even more things to change, even more than in Quake 3!

    Re: New skin incoming!

I'm really looking forward to your new skin, Archon.
Please don't view what others take to be flaws in a skin as being a "mistake". For one thing there is no such thing as a perfect universal skin which will be fantastic for all users with all tastes with any manner of screen setups. I imagine some people really enjoy hidden buttons and I don't mind them if they aren't too hard to find (and I did not think they were too hard to find in Q3). The rough tracing part is, I am afraid, inherent in the reliance of the Skin Designer program on bitmap images. Bitmapped images tend to develop "the jaggies" as they are expanded (so Q3 probably did not have jaggies at 1152, they certainly did not at 1280 but they do at 1024 and probably are even more so at 800. The only workaround I know of for this problem would be to design at the lowest resolution and then you have to figure out whether your proportions will be ok at higher resolution.
I am not saying this to knock the Skin Designer program (which I really like for being so flexible). What I want to acknowledge is that skin designers always have to make decisions. As a reviewer I can point out or take issue with some of those decisions but that does not mean I regard those decisions as mistakes.
So anyway, keep up the good work. As I said, I am looking forward to your next piece (even as I am enjoying your most recent).
    Best wishes,
    Bill Mikkelsen

      Re: New skin incoming!

you are right, xoas, those are flaws but still...
I just wanted to finish the Quake 3 skin and put it online, if I had more patience it would of been beter. The main amp looks good but it has no place for the buttons and sliders, so they ended up scatered and hidden. I saw that to late and, well I just was to lazy to fix it all...

And now for something completely diferent:

The new skin is doing good and so far it has 10 diferent vis-s! I have made some very interesting things and they are good looking as well:D. as for user defined windows, you will be amazed that I can make a whole bunch of them, so the variaties of skin window types will be huge.

I bet that almost everyone can guess which skin I'm making when I say that the main amp is a lambda in a circle....

And I promise the looks and the usage of the skin will be worthy of the subject.
