    Automatic Song Recognition (CDDB)???

I hust installed the Audio Player and I can definitely say that it is the best I've used. Congrats on an excellent piece of software.

My question is whether there is some way to have the software recognize CDs played with the Aidio Player. Others connect to databases like the CDDB and this is very convenient as you don't have to edit the tag or each song before ripping the files into your own mp3 database.

    Thanks for any help here.

dmc audio input already retrieves from cddb.

If your saying you want dap player to pick up the info from your music cd rom?

    I can't test this myself so i don't know.

But if your cd rom or burner recognizes cd text (mine doesn't) and dap can read the cd text then I guess that would work?

    i'm not sure.

Exactly. When I plop a CD into the drive, I want the Db Audio Player to 1) start up and 2) recognize the CD. Right now, I can't even get it to associate with CDs.

ok, what i did on win9x was go to the "mycomputer" icon

        then click view>>folder options>>filetypes>>

then scroll down to see "audiocd" then highlite>>edit

then highlight "play" then click "edit"

now you will see an option to browse for amp.exe in your dbpoweramp folder.

then click ok. then highlite "play" and click on "set default"

that should take care of it.

if this does not fire up dap, check that you have "auto cd insert notification" turned on for your cd player.

also don't forget to check your dap "file" association configuration to recognize .cda

Ok, this was it. I had changed "Audio CD" to amp.exe but there was another key for .cda files that I didn't change. So, now loading a CD opens up dap but it still doesn't recognize song titles, etc like other audio players do.

Strangely, it did recognize the singer/song titles of a burnt CDR that I put in.

And thank you for the help.

              well i'm glad it's all working now:D

I think the reason some music cd's won't display all the text is because a lot of music cd's don't have the cd text on the actual cd themselves.

I am now just playing a bought "Mozart" cd and dap is displaying

              name/artist/album. however it's an old cd too:D

dAP will only recognise CDs that have either previously been put into dMCs Audio CD Input, or any other CD player that stores the CD info in CDPlayer.ini (most do).

I was/will be finishing a CD add on package for dAP, basically when a CD is put in the drive it will play it after fetching the data from freedb.

ah, well that explains why my Mozart cd was recognized by dap. I did have it in dmc audio cd input at one stage. I forgot about that.
