    not playing some files

On some files, the player just doesn't play them. I've played these files before with other players. It also doesn't say why it isn't playing them.

What sort of files are you playing? Are they MP3s?

If you're trying to play a file format that DAP doesn't support out of the box, have a visit to Codec Central and download the appropriate codec.

I have experienced the same problem. All I have are mp3 files. I can play them if I put them into a play list, but they will not play from the music collection.

From the collection make sure the tracks are still there, open My Music Collection, select Collection >> Music Collection >> Highlight missing files

They're all present and/or accounted for (songs that is). I did notice that the ones that won't play are listed as having a zero length and no info on bitrate, track no, album, etc. I have played these in the past so I'm not sure if they somehow became corrupted or what.
Some other things I've noticed are when I try to open any of these with windows media player, I am told that access is denied because they are currently in use. The same thing happens when I try to move or delete one. Windows Explorer tells me that access is denied.
I had all my music files on a compressed drive. I noticed that dMC would crash when trying to convert files on a compressed drive so I tried to uncmpress it through the drive properties. The same files couldn't be changed because access is denied.
