    Multiple Instances of Tracks

I recently moved my entire MMC collection to a new folder, using a stricter protocol: Artist folders with Album folders within, and files formated Ar-Alb-tr#, and then I wanted to make sure that DAP had all the files in my MMC, so I added the entire super folder of thousands of tracks... and I notice now that many of the songs are in my DAP twice. Not all, but enough to be noticeable. I believe that the tracks which show double are ones that I modified substantially, but the DAP seems to have handled the majority of these fine. At worst, they showed up as missing, and I told the DAP where to find them. However, many of these tracks show up now in both their original form w/ original ID tag info, and their newer versions. Both instances play, and point to the same filepath and file! The original versions show the number of times I played those tracks previously, and their volume levels, but the new versions have the updated track info.

I don't suppose there is anyway to preserve my hard earned volume level settings & previously played info, while condensing to only the new instances tag info. If worse comes to worse, I will just erase my whole MMC and start from scratch. This would be a minor bitch as many of my files are live tracks and bootlegs (shn and flacs) from JamBands that were recorded at lower levels than your typical comercial CD rip. Also, I was digging on seeing the most played tracks, while leaving the collection on random play. At time the most played list would be nearly psychic. (i.e. break up with the girlfriend, and "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" (horace andy version) is at the top of the list.

Anyhooo... Spoon is working on a new volume leveling/ normalization thingie, so it shouldn't be too bad if I just wipe the slate clean.

You moved the files, or dAP did with its arrange music?

I believe I used a few different strategies in retagging and moving the collection. I had accidently let Windows Media download info and re arrange a few files, and I did some by hand, then I let DAP do a bunch of them, and to be honest... I wouldn't be able to tell which method was used on which files.

In that case, you are best to clear your MMC and readd all the tracks.
