Random Selector Problem

I really like the idea of the "Random Selector" function, to create random playlists of a specified length to transfer to my jukebox.

However I can't seem to get it to work. When I try for selecting a number of tracks, it always only "selects" the first track of my music collection, then I hit "Create Playlist using slected tracks" and I get a one song playlist.

When I try for "Select Tracks of Maximum Compbined length" it just freezes.

Anyone else had this?

I'm using Windows 98, I'm wondering if that's the problem?

I definitely have No Selective Play. Still the same. I've removed everything and reinstalled, still only one track.

i could not get random selector working either.

however i think we are talking about 2 different things here?

if i highlight my tracks in MMC and select create playlist on selected tracks then that is working ok.

but the random selector seems to freeze on me also.

Make sure you have no 'Selective Play' on

in the random screen options it says selective play should be on?

"selects tracks in "my music collection" based on an current "selective play" criteria. this is usefull for selecting music to be sent to a portable mp3 player, or when creating random playlists"

Odd works fine for me, what if you tell it to select 3 tracks?

I said switch off the Selective as it can limit the tracks, if it has the full collection it should work fine...

Make sure you are using the latest beta version in the 'Beta' section of the forum.

Yes it is odd, I can't see what I'm doing wrong. I've tried every permutation of Selective Play On or Off, User Highlight States Etc.

As Razgo says, if I select the files manually, then "Create Playlist from Selected Tracks" it works fine. I just can't get the "random" element that I want.

Curiously, when it only selects one track, it does the same one every time, but not the first track in the MMC in ANY sort order. "Help!" - first track from the album of the same name by the Beatles. Maybe it's telling me something about my computer...

Is dAP playing at the time? on mine I always have it playing, if you still have problems, Razgo please email your music collection to me and I will try with your collection (not the actual audio files you under stand, just checking..>).

ok i sent an email. it was just a few files in the collection for testing this out. no dap wasn't running at the time.

this is the screen where mine freezes. but this time after a while i did get the MMC screen back. but then nothing happend? actually i'm not sure what is supposed to happen?

hey i got it to work!! i just needed to put a number in "storage size". i just learned something new! :komisch12

The Storage Size box shouldn't make any difference, it is just used to calculate the length of tracks.

hmmm... well that's where it freezes on me. if i don't put in a number in the storage size it just freezes. and as you saw it was just a small test collection file i did the test on.
