MMC and Playlist editor can't find track number

On occasions MMC wouldn't see a tag field when importing a number of MP3s using "Add Music", but lately it refuses to see the track numbers.

1. These are MP3s I've created from other sources, not ripped from CDs. I have saved them as waves, used DBP to convert to MP3, then edited the tags, trying a couple of different tag file editors.

2. When I add them to MMC, the track number field is blank, although the popup yellow box shows a track number.

3. Using the playlist creator, it won't put them in track number order.

4. In MMC, if I right-click on the track and choose "Edit tag", the track # field is empty, but if I right-click on it while browsing with explorer and choose "edit tag", I get a different looking screen, and the track number is there!

5. If I edit the tag in MMC and add the track #, it appears on the screen, but the playlist creator still won't sort by track (and I made sure that it was set for "sort by track")

I've used the DBP suite of utilities to rip, convert and organize nearly 4000 tracks, and this is the only problem I've run in to! Amazing program!

update

I've continued to play wiht MMC, and I was incorrect in assuming it was only MP3 from other sources than ripping CDs that was the problem. I have identified a few CDs I ripped (using DaP Cd import) and had automatically add to MMC that didn't come in with track numbers. I manually added them in MMC (altho the DBP yellow popup continues to show the proper track number), but the play list creator still won't recognize them, and won't sort the playlist in track number order.

It appears to be an "all or nothing" problem. If it happens, it happens on all the tracks ripped from CD, or all converted at once from dAP converter from .wav files.

I've sent two, on ripped from CD, one compressed from a .wav and edited with a tag file editor.

I took a look at my two posts...geez... Not only did I screw up the acronymn for dbpowerAmp, I couldn't even be consistant about it! What the heck was I thinking?
